CloseYourChallan is a private service that helps vehicle owners in India find out what traffic challans are pending against their vehicle, understand what each one actually means, and — where the law permits — have them resolved through an empanelled advocate.
Why we built this
Finding out what you owe should not be hard. In practice it is: challan data is scattered across state portals, the language is unfamiliar, and the amount on screen is often not the amount you will end up paying. Worse, several services will happily take money for challans that legally cannot be settled without the registered owner appearing in court.
We built this to do the opposite. Our eligibility engine checks every single challan against the rules for that state and that offence, and tells you plainly which category it falls into. If we cannot help, we say so and explain why, rather than taking your payment and disappointing you later.
What we actually do
- Retrieve challan data through a licensed third-party data provider, using your vehicle registration number, after verifying your mobile number.
- Classify each challan against configurable state-and-offence rules, so you see exactly what is possible and what is not.
- Collect payment for the government fine and our service fee, shown separately, never combined or obscured.
- Route the matter to an advocate empanelled with us in the relevant state, and keep you updated as the case progresses.
What we are not
We are not a government website. We have no affiliation with any traffic police department, Regional Transport Office, transport authority or court, and we have no special access to their systems. Everything we show you comes from a commercial data provider and may lag behind the authority by a day or two.
We also do not guarantee outcomes. No service can. An advocate can present your matter properly and make sure nothing is missed procedurally, but whether a fine is reduced, upheld or cancelled is a decision for the authority or the court, not for us.
How we handle your documents
When a case needs your registration certificate or identity proof, those files are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are written to disk, and they are stored outside the public web directory. There is no public URL for a document. Only you and the specific advocate assigned to your case can open one, and every single access — including every refused attempt — is written to an audit log.
