Placeholder for legal review. A working draft that describes how the service actually operates. It must be reviewed and adapted by qualified Indian counsel before launch.
1. Who we are
CloseYourChallan is a private service. We are not a government body and have no affiliation with any traffic police department, transport authority or court.
2. What the service is
We retrieve challan information from a third-party data provider, assess it against configurable eligibility rules, collect the government amount together with our service fee, and engage an empanelled advocate to act on compoundable matters where the law allows.
3. What the service is not
We do not provide legal advice ourselves. We do not appear before any court on your behalf except through an empanelled advocate engaged for that purpose. We do not guarantee any outcome.
4. Accuracy of data
Challan data comes from a commercial provider and may be incomplete or out of date. We show you what the provider returned. An absent challan is not evidence that no challan exists.
5. Eligibility decisions
Certain offences require the registered owner to appear in person before a court. We will not accept payment for those. Where our rules cannot classify a challan confidently, we mark it for manual review rather than guessing.
6. Payment
The government amount is collected as a pass-through and remitted to the authority. The service fee is ours. Both are displayed separately before payment. Pricing is fixed at the moment your order is created; later changes do not affect existing orders.
7. Your obligations
You confirm that you own the vehicle or are authorised to act for its owner, and that documents you upload are genuine and yours to provide. Looking up a vehicle you have no connection to may itself be unlawful.
8. Advocates
Advocates are independent professionals empanelled with us, not our employees. The professional relationship for the conduct of your matter is between you and the advocate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the service fee you paid for the affected matter. We are not liable for the decision of any authority or court, or for delays in the judicial process.
10. Suspension
We may suspend or refuse service where we suspect fraud, misuse, or an attempt to obtain information about a vehicle you have no right to.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Indian law. Jurisdiction to be specified by counsel.
